Canonical sources of the Syro-Malabar Church
Many people are not yet aware of this rich variety within the Catholic Communion. They fail to realise that the different individual churches united in faith, Sacraments and hierarchy can be different in liturgy, spirituality, theology, discipline, administrative system etc. The clerical and religious formation after the Latin pattern made them think in this line, remaining ignorant on the historical sources of their own church. It was in such a context that Fr. Placid spoke clearly and pointed out categorically the equality of the rights and obligations of the individual churches and the need to preserve the genuine traditions of each Church. This book on the Canonical Sources of the Syro-Malabar Church will remain a source of inspiration for rediscovering the authentic identity of the Church of the St. Thomas Christians of India.
